Juha had a small white lamb that he cared for very much. The lamb followed him around the garden and wagged its tiny tail whenever it heard Juha's voice.
Juha would laugh and say:
🧔 You are my little woolly friend.
One day, some friends saw the lamb. One of them said:
👳 Juha, what a beautiful lamb! Why do you not invite us to a big feast?
Juha answered calmly:
🧔 This lamb is still small. I am raising it and caring for it.
The friends did not like that answer. They decided to pressure him with a silly joke. The first friend came and said:
👳 Have you heard? Tomorrow will be such a strange day that nobody will need stored food, wool, or heavy cloaks!
Juha smiled.
🧔 If your words are that strange, I will think about them in a strange way too.
Then the second friend came, and then the third, repeating the same idea. Juha understood that they had planned one trick together.

A Picnic Outside the Village
The next day, Juha invited them to a picnic at the edge of the village. He brought bread, cheese, olives, and figs. He also brought the little lamb so it could play in the grass beside him.
The friends were delighted. They thought their plan had worked.
👳 We will go play for a while. Please watch our cloaks, Juha.
They placed their cloaks under a tree, ran off to play, and left Juha alone with the food and the lamb.
Juha looked at the cloaks, then at the lamb.
🧔 My little friend, people who say tomorrow needs nothing seem very worried about their cloaks today.
A Gentle Lesson
Juha did not burn the cloaks or harm anyone. He gathered them, tied them with a rope, and hung them safely on a high branch so they would not get dusty.
When the friends returned, they saw their cloaks hanging in the tree.
👳 Juha! Why did you put them up there?
Juha made a serious face that almost hid his smile.
🧔 I thought you did not need them. Did you not say tomorrow would be so strange that nobody would need food, wool, or clothes?
The friends felt embarrassed. They realized Juha had understood their trick from the beginning. Juha lowered the cloaks, and they all sat down to eat the food he had brought.
The little lamb came close to the basket, and Juha gave it fresh grass.
🧔 Jokes are good when they are honest and kind. A joke that pressures someone is not a kind joke.

The friends laughed and apologized. From that day on, when they wanted something from Juha, they asked honestly instead of using tricks and big stories.
