How to edit a Word document
- Start typing in the blank document, or choose Open file to import Word (.docx), HTML, text, or an editor backup.
- Use the formatting, insert, page layout, and review tabs. On a phone, choose Comfortable reading for larger text.
- Choose Download for a Word document, web page, text, or editable backup. Print / Save PDF opens your browser print dialog.
What can I do with this editor?
Create and open Word documents, format text, use headings and lists, edit tables, add images, links, comments and footnotes, adjust page margins, headers and footers, then download Word, HTML, text or an editable backup. Use the print dialog to save a PDF.
Supported files
Open Word (.docx), HTML, plain text (.txt) and IGY editor backups (.igyword), up to 25 MB. Save older Word (.doc) files as .docx first. Images: PNG, JPEG and WebP, up to 10 MB.
Is my file uploaded to a server?
No document is uploaded. Import, editing and export run on your device. A draft is stored in this browser using IndexedDB; download a copy for permanent storage.
Will the formatting be preserved?
Common text formatting, tables, images, plain headers and footers, comments, footnotes and inline text revisions are supported. Complex layouts, section-specific settings, macros, equations and floating objects may be simplified. This is not a complete Microsoft Word replacement. The editing canvas is continuous; Word or the print engine determines automatic pagination. Keep the original and check the exported copy.
