If a photo needs an orientation value to display correctly, the tool keeps only that value and removes the other EXIF details.
How to remove metadata safely
- Choose files. The tool inspects supported metadata locally without uploading the files.
- Use Quick clean to remove all detected private details, or Advanced to keep selected groups.
- Create clean copies, download them, and verify them before sharing. Your originals are never overwritten.
Tools FAQ
Are my files uploaded to the server?
No. Inspection and cleaning run in your browser. The site does not receive the file contents. Closing or reloading the page clears the working session.
Does cleaning reduce image, video, or audio quality?
JPG, PNG, and WebP image data is copied without re-encoding. Audio and video streams are remuxed into a clean container without re-encoding when their tracks are supported. The tool stops rather than silently dropping a track.
Why can a clean file have a slightly different size?
Removing metadata can make a file smaller. PDF saving and media remuxing rebuild the container, so the result can also be slightly larger even though the content quality is unchanged.
Can it remove GPS while keeping a photo upright?
Yes for supported JPG, PNG, and WebP files. The tool removes private EXIF data but preserves the small orientation value when it is needed for correct display. Color profiles and animation data are preserved.
Which files are not supported?
HEIC/HEIF and Office documents are not cleaned in this version. Password-protected PDFs and media files whose tracks cannot all be preserved are rejected rather than modified incompletely.
